Clogged Ear Remedy

The Best Clogged Ear Remedy

Wax build up in the ear may require a clogged ear remedy. Usually when the ear is clogged it is because of a build up of wax but there are other reasons why this can happen and the way a person tries to clean out the excess wax may be the problem. If you start out with a clogged ear and use the wrong clogged ear remedy you can end up doing more damage than good.

Ear wax is in the ear canal for a reason. It maintains PH balance and can shield the ear canal from excess water that can cause a fungal infection and stop the growth of bacteria. It is the body’s way to naturally keep the ear healthy and wax should only be removed if it is affecting your hearing.

The most common misconception about cleaning the ear area is that you have to use a cotton swab. Cotton swabs are great for getting into the cracks and crevices of your outer ear but you should never put a cotton swab inside the ear canal. Instead of removing the excess ear wax, the cotton swabs actually push the wax further back into the ear canal. Over time if you do this everyday, the wax can build up inside the ear. This is possibly the main reason for wax build up.  You can also do other ear damage by inserting a cotton swab into your ear. If you remove the helpful wax you can open the ear area up to infections and also harm your ear drum. Another clogged ear remedy will have to be used.

There are many over the counter products when it comes to removing wax from the ear. Most of them contain a solution to soften the wax in the ear and an ear irrigating syringe. These are good solutions but they may not work as well as you would like. When ear wax becomes impacted in the ear, it forms a hard pebble like shape. Even if you follow the directions and leave the ear softening solution in for the required time, it may not be enough to soften the wax. If you try to rinse the wax out and nothing happens, you may need to try the process again or try again the next day.  It is also fine to use olive oil or mineral oil for a few days before you try to remove the wax, to soften it.

The ear irrigation syringe is a helpful tool in removing ear wax. You simply fill it with warm water and insert it into the ear canal. When you press on the end of it, you can squirt water directly into the ear. It is important to tip your head and let all of the water run out after ever time you do this. Be careful not to use hot water. This can make a person feel nauseated and dizzy. If you rinse the ear out more than a few times this can also happen. Do not rinse your ears for a long period of time. If you have tried the process four or five times and no wax has come out, you must use an ear wax softener and try again on another day.

If you use a clogged ear remedy for more than a week and you still cannot remove the wax you should make an appointment to see a doctor. You may have some kind of ear infection that needs antibiotics or you may be suffering with hearing loss. He will be able to diagnose the problem and advise you on what to do next.
