Night sweats in men are a lot more common than you might think because they are less spoke of than those that occur with women due to menopause. Other medical reasons include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, fibromyalgia, thyroid issues, arthritis, diabetes, infection, silent neoplasm, neurological conditions, inflammation, endocarditis, stroke, anxiety, stress, sleep apnea and back or joint pain.
Night sweats in men may also be caused by over-the-counter medications, prescription drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and fear or anxiety. A poor diet that consists of fatty or spicy foods can also be causes as well as minor food allergies. Rapid weight gain, obesity, irregular sleeping patterns and recreational drug use or withdrawals are all causes as well.
Finding the right treatment is often as challenging as isolating the direct cause. Sometimes natural and simple solutions such as turning your heat down or air up, wearing absorbent fabrics or sleeping on light breathable sheets can make a world of difference. If you are consuming alcohol or caffeine or smoking, especially before bed time, this is an easy fix, just eliminate the triggering causes.
