Would You Pay for Age Spot Removal?

Many wealthy Americans have paid for age spot removal in the way of plastic surgery, but surely there has got to be a better way. Or is there? What if you could use creams or skin care products that would make your age spots disappear? If you know it existed, would you pay for it? I think that many Americans would say yes, but only if the cost is reasonable.

What Causes Age Spots?

Age spots are simply patches of melanin on the skin that seem to appear over time as we get older. Many times, they tend to show up more noticeably on adults who had a lot of exposure to the sun. Melanin does absorb the sun and naturally fends off UV rays to protect us from its damages. As we age, our skin begins to lose its natural ability to fight off the UV rays, leaving us with large patches of brown skin that we refer to as age spots.

While some get the typical freckles, many get more intense brown spots called solar lentigos or age spots. These come from the sun when the sun destroys our melanocytes. These are the cells in the skin that produce melanin. For those who have a fair complexion, there is less of a chance being protected from the sun which can allow the skin to burn easily damaging tissue. As a result, the age spots can form over time as we get older.

If you choose to get the laser treatment, then you may need more than one session in order for your age spots to go away completely. Most patients attest to the fact that they need more than one treatment, but for them this is the best choice. Keep in mind that the number of treatments will also be dependent on where the age spots are, and how many there are. So, this won’t be the same for everyone.

Laser treatment will take the age spots away, however be careful if you got your age spots by spending a lot of time out in the sun. If you are a sun goddess or love the beach, your age spots may return. Again, they simply aren’t just a factor related to age. Your age spots can come from sun damage as you age. Your skin is your outside covering and will certainly protect you, but you have to take care of it, and it will take care of you.
