Ways To Increase Fertility

There Are Many Ways To Increase Fertility

There are more ways to increase fertility than simply swallowing pills or having injections. Better ways too, though sometimes pills and injections, as perhaps a last resort, often lead to conception and pregnancy where all other attempts have failed.

Know Thy Self - Probably the best piece of advice anyone can have if they are looking for ways to increase fertility because they suspect they may not be able to conceive, is to educate one's self. The basics of course are concerned with understanding the process leading to pregnancy in the first place. While that may sound rather simplistic, understanding the process means being able to grasp those things which can cause the process to fail. There are many things that can affect fertility and the ability to conceive. Pills may do the trick, but not so if there is an underlying medical problem that the pills don't deal with. A fertility problem is a major issue for a married couple to face, and finger pointing, feelings of guilt, or negative thinking, are not going to solve anything, in fact can make matters worse. Both parties involved need to learn and understand the options.

General Factors Affecting Fertility - Ways to increase fertility include leading a healthy lifestyle, avoiding those things that can decrease fertility, and taking pills or medications which either improve fertility, or counteract abnormalities in the body which may be adversely affecting fertility. These general guidelines apply of course to both men and women. While women account for the majority of fertility problems, men nevertheless account for about 30% of the total, so can't stand idly by and expect the woman to solve everything on her own. Smoking for example, has negative effects on a woman's ability to ovulate or release eggs.  Smoking also affects the quality of a man's sperm as well as the sperm count. The reason most of the fertility problems are with the woman though is likely because with a woman there are more things that can go wrong. The man has to be concerned about sperm count and quality. The woman has be concerned about the quality and number of eggs, ovulation (release of the eggs), plus the fallopian tube environment, where an egg is fertilized and where conditions must be such that the sperm can do what sperm do, fertilize the egg. Approximately 40% of female fertility problems center about an inability to ovulate, called anovulation, and there are many things which can cause this condition.  One of the ways to increase fertility lies in the ability to pinpoint the cause of anovulation and take corrective action.

Keep A Constant Weight - One of the more curious reasons for a decrease in fertility has to do with a person's weight. Common sense might dictate that someone who is grossly overweight would have a tendency to be less fertile. While there is some truth to this, there is no reason why an overweight woman cannot become pregnant, and many of course do. Where women run into fertility problems is when they allow their normal weight to deviate by about 10% or more. Deviation doesn't mean just weight gain; it can mean weight loss as well. Either situation can decrease fertility.

Pills And Injections - Finally, there's the approach many take in their search for ways to increase fertility. That approach is to take pills of injections. There are several types of fertility pills on the market, each with several brand names. These should be taken strictly according to directions, and under the supervision of a qualified medical professional. This approach is generally safe, and very often effective, though a woman may go through several cycles before the desired result is obtained. There is always the issue of possible side effects, and the person taking the pills or injections should be aware of what these side effects could be. A usual side effect is an increasing probability (around 10%) of having twins. And, as the chances for multiple births increase, so do the chances of miscarriages or still births. And, there's always the chance of giving birth to octuplets!
